SCOTUS just ruled in favor of the right to bear arms more definitively than they ever have, I noticed. This is a heavy ruling, one that will impact state laws and set a strong precedent in favor of individual gun ownership (not that we even needed it in this country). This is highly entertaining for me considering that when Obama was elected, gun sales shot (hah) up, once again proving a) conservatives' inability to restrain their paranoia and b) concurrent inability to realize that the president does not in fact control absolutely everything, including the judgments about constitutionality. Much as it's fun to lump every issue that frightens you under one scary figurehead, the world doesn't work that way.
It's even more entertainingly idiotic when you realize that Obama has never promoted an anti-gun rights agenda. The Palin-esque gun crowd would have you believe that liberals want to take guns away from righteous folk and put them directly in the hands of (probably illegal immigrant) criminals, while in reality gun rights continue to grow in this country. They have never been and apparently won't for a while be under "attack" from anybody (the people with all the guns are the ones under attack? Really?). Right Wingers' insistence that Obama/Pelosi secretly intend to strip your average paranoid Conservo-American of their lethal metal blankies is just another instance of their delusional inability to process a rational or nuanced understanding of anyone else's opinions.
(and yeah, that first picture's a BB gun. Cuz guns are toys, eh conservatives?)
